  6. I understand that all fees must be paid before my child will be placed on a team and acknowledge that South Burnaby Metro Club may apply a processing fee for all refunds or dishonoured cheques at the sole discretion of the South Burnaby Metro Club.
  7. I will not force my child to participate in sports.
  8. I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults.
  9. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is as important as winning.
  10. I will encourage and promote a team spirit and will endeavour to have my child attend all games, practices and events related to the basketball season.

  13. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing/taunting, refusing to shake hands or publicly using profane language or gestures. This includes not questioning the official’s judgement in public.

  17.   I will demand that my child treats other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect regardless of race, religion, sex or ability.
  18. I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a game.
  19. I will promote the emotional and physical well-being of the athletes ahead of any personal desire I may have for my child to win.
  20. I will respect the referees and their authority during games and will never question, discuss or confront them on or off the court.
  21. I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from tobacco, drugs and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sporting events.
  22. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team or I’ve been asked by an official coach for assistance.
  23. Failure to comply with the above may result in, but is not limited to a warning, suspension and/or temporary or permanent removal from the association as decided by SBMC Basketball.
